Writer’s Workshop
Today, we worked on writing the letter “B” and “b.” As we worked on writing, we practiced the song “I Have the Whole Alphabet in My Mouth” and we added the “B” sound to the song. We also worked on differentiating between “b” and “d.” These two letter look similar, so oftentimes students will get them confused. Then, we read “My Bb book” and we talked about words that start with the letter “B.”

Mandarin Class
Students learned about how Chinese people also celebrate a holiday like Chuseok. During this holiday, the Chinese eat cakes called “moon cakes.” Students watched a video on mooncakes. Then, they colored a picture of their own mooncake. Some students colored their mooncakes blue and said, “My mooncake is blueberry.” Other students colored their mooncakes red and said, “My mooncake is strawberry.”

Special Activity
In celebration of Chuseok, we created a Canadian Thanksgiving craft known as a “turkey craft.” Students wrote words of things they are thankful for on colorful feathers and attached them to a plate with a turkey body. Check out the pictures! It was a festive craft!
Dance Class
Today in dance, students learned how to use ribbons as they danced! They had a lot of fun twirling and whirling the ribbons to the music.

Science
For science, we briefly reviewed the weather words before we went home. I described the weather word and students had to guess which word I was describing. We also listened to a weather song and talked about today’s weather. Next week, we will do a more in-depth lesson on weather and the seasons.
